 'Belong to Song' was the first 'beyond business' initiative that Old East Studios made the commitment to host. It began several years ago as an experiment sponsored by London's Mental Health Promotions Committee for those recovering from, or living with, mental illness. Space at Old East Studios is provided without charge. Since then, it has developed a home-base feel, and the lively energy generated by volunteer Catherine McInnes makes it a weekly highlight for those who come regularly. London's Mental Health Promotions Committee is a group of volunteers made up of agency workers, consumers/survivors, organizations and community members. The goal is to help reduce the stigma of mental illness. The Mental Health Promotions Committee also sponsors several other events during the year including Music Balm at the Aeolian Hall in the fall.
